How It Began

I came to astrology the same way I came to everything else in this work: through the body, before the mind had language for what was happening. I was a dancer and a choreographer. I made ballets. I taught children. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I started noticing that certain symbolic languages — astrology, tarot, myth — were doing something I recognized from the studio floor.

They were teaching people to read themselves.

Not to predict what would happen. Not to confirm what they already believed. But to locate themselves inside a larger pattern — to feel where they were in a cycle, what force was currently organizing their attention, what quality of time they were living inside.

The esoteric traditions were practicing symbolic literacy long before I had a name for what symbolic literacy was.

The more I worked with astrology and tarot and myth, the more I saw them as instruments of perception — not belief systems to be accepted or rejected, but lenses that made certain things visible that ordinary language tends to flatten. A transit is not a prediction. It is a map of what is currently reorganizing. A tarot card is not an answer. It is a question the psyche already knows how to ask.

The Same Inquiry, A Different Language

beccasutter.org is where I work in the scholarly register — developmental theory, phenomenological inquiry, the formal framework. Infinite Threads is where the same ideas move through their original instruments.

Astrology is temporal literacy in its most ancient form — the practice of reading how time organizes experience, how seasons and cycles shape attention, what quality of participation a given moment is asking for. Tarot is pattern literacy — the image as a mirror for what the conscious mind is not yet ready to name. Myth is the language in which embodied development was always described — before psychology arrived to translate it into clinical terms.

I am not choosing between the theoretical and the mythic. I am a person who lives in both. The theory makes the symbolic practice more precise. The symbolic practice makes the theory more alive.

At Infinite Threads, I teach through practice rather than proposition. Not "here is what the framework claims" but "here is what happens when you actually work with these instruments on your own life." The Circle, the readings, the myth work, the soma practice — these are not illustrations of the theory. They are the theory in its most embodied form.
